The Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, has explained a recent meeting\nwith President Prabowo Subiability in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java. Fadli\nstated that he reported a number of figures proposed by members of the\npublic to be awarded medals and honours.<\/p>\n
\u201cYesterday, in my capacity as the Chairman of the Council for Titles,\nMedals, and Honours (GTK), I reported inputs from ministries, agencies,\nand the community, including the arts and culture community. These are\nindividuals who have been recommended to receive awards. These are not\nnational heroes,\u201d said Fadli Zon at the parliamentary complex in\nSenayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (2\/9\/2026).<\/p>\n
Fadli noted that the medals and honours are intended for community\nfigures across various sectors, ranging from artists and cultural\nfigures to medical professionals. He added that this plan was presented\nto Prabowo during their meeting in Hambalang on Tuesday (1\/9).<\/p>\n
\u201cThese are for medals and honours across various fields. Whether it\nbe community figures, artists, cultural figures, or perhaps figures from\nvarious backgrounds, such as medical professionals or others who have\nrendered significant service,\u201d Fadli Zon said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI must submit these inputs to the President, and they will be\nreconsidered later. There are quite many\u2014more than a hundred,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, Fadli disclosed discussions regarding figures to be\nawarded the title of National Hero this coming November. He stated that\nthe conferment of national hero titles considers many factors.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe process for national heroes is currently underway. As is known,\nthe designation of national heroes follows a bottom-up approach. There\nis a research team, known as TP2GD, consisting of regional researchers.\nThen there is the central TP2GP, a research team at the centre under the\nMinistry of Social Affairs,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
Fadli mentioned that names screened from the regency\/city and\nprovincial levels, up to the Ministry of Social Affairs, will be further\nreviewed by the Council for Titles, Medals, and Honours. The\nannouncement of national heroes is expected on Heroes\u2019 Day, 10\nNovember.<\/p>\n
\u201cOnce the research is completed at the regency\/city and provincial\nlevels through the TP2GP and the Ministry of Social Affairs, it will\nthen be submitted to the Council for Titles, Medals, and Honours for\nfurther review before being presented to the President. The announcement\nusually takes place on Heroes\u2019 Day,\u201d said Fadli Zon.<\/p>\n
On the same occasion, Fadli addressed the possibility of Prabowo\u2019s\nlate economist father, Soemitro Djojohadikoesoemo, and his grandfather,\nRaden Mas Margono Djojohadikoesoemo, being included in the proposed list\nof national heroes. Fadli admitted he did not yet know.<\/p>\n
\u201cI do not know (about the possibility),\u201d said Fadli Zon.<\/p>\n
