        "content": "<p>Factory workers strike in Semarang<\/p>\n<p>SEMARANG: About 2,000 employees of PT Sae Aparel garment<br>\nfactory went on strike here on Friday demanding a pay hike and<br>\nbetter welfare benefits.<\/p>\n<p>The peaceful strike began at about 7 a.m. and ended around<br>\nnoon, with workers shouting slogans in the factory compound.<\/p>\n<p>Without going into detail, the strike's coordinator, Kuncoro,<br>\nsaid the workers were demanding welfare benefits which were<br>\ncurrently unavailable to them.<\/p>\n<p>He added that they were also demanding an increases in daily<br>\nfood and transportation stipends, along with added incentives for<br>\nthose working the night shift.<\/p>\n<p>The protest ended after company representatives met with the<br>\nworkers and promised to consider their demands.
