Factory worker beaten to death<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A shoe factory worker in Kalideres, West
\nJakarta, was beaten to death by nine of his neighbors in the
\nearly hours of Saturday, possibly following a quarrel.<\/p>\n
A Kalideres Police subprecinct officer said the victim,
\nidentified as Taufik, 27, of Tebing Tinggi, South Sumatra, was
\nmobbed near the house he rented on Jl. Tegal Alur in West Jakarta
\nat about 2 a.m.<\/p>\n
\"The men ran away after beating Taufik with wooden sticks,
\nleaving him collapsed on the ground,\" the officer, who asked for
\nanonymity, said.<\/p>\n
He said local residents rushed Taufik to hospital but he died
\non the way.<\/p>\n
Police arrested the nine suspected men at the houses they
\nrented after a report from local residents, the officer said.<\/p>\n
Police found the wooden sticks used to beat the victim in the
\nwell of one of the houses, he said.<\/p>\n
Residents said that Taufik had quarreled with the suspects
\nseveral days earlier, according to the officer.<\/p>\n
\"The suspects were probably still angry with the victim and
\ntried to take revenge. But we are still questioning them,\" he
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Taufik's body was sent to Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital
\nmorgue for autopsy.<\/p>\n
The morgue also received two other bodies believed to have
\nbeen murdered in separate incidents on Saturday.<\/p>\n
One of them, identified as Hasan, 25, a resident of Pulo
\nGadung in West Jakarta, died of multiple stab wounds.<\/p>\n
The second man also died of stab wounds. He has yet to be
\nidentified. His body was found in Kembangan, West Jakarta. (jun)<\/p>",
