        "content": "<p>Faces of Indonesia?<\/p>\n<p>\"Faces of Indonesia,\" touring several big cities in the U.S.<br>\nand Europe recently, has undoubtedly done quite a lot for<br>\nIndonesia's cultural promotion. In a few hours, large numbers of<br>\npeople in those cities had the rare opportunity to watch the rich<br>\nand colorful spectacles of Indonesian culture. One wonders, with<br>\nvalid reason, whether this kind of cultural diplomacy is no more<br>\nefficient and effective than the works of our embassies in this<br>\nfield?<\/p>\n<p>The successful cultural presentation was made possible only by<br>\nthe active and dedicated participation of all members of the<br>\ntroupe, led by the energetic and no-nonsensical Mrs Hardiyanti<br>\nRukmana. In the post cold war era, cultural diplomacy could<br>\nincreasingly play an important role in building mutual<br>\nunderstanding among nations. Well done and bravo.<\/p>\n<p>There is, however, one small thing which makes make feel<br>\nrather \"uncomfortable.\" We can understand the words on the banner<br>\n\"Faces of Indonesia\" quite properly. It would tell the audience<br>\nthat Indonesia has a rich variety of different customs and<br>\ntraditions, songs and dances. However, the plural \"faces\" could<br>\nunintentionally have a double meaning (double entendre). Having<br>\ntwo or more \"faces\" could have the unwanted connotation of<br>\n\"double facedness.\" Would words like \"Glimpses of Indonesian<br>\nculture,\" for instance, not convey the idea better?
