        "content": "<p>Metro Jaya Police will not tolerate acts of thuggery related to debt\ncollectors or extortion against UMKM traders or other members of the\npublic,\u201d said the Head of Public Relations for Metro Jaya Police,\nCommissioner Budi Hermanto, to reporters at Metro Jaya Police\nHeadquarters in Jakarta on Friday (10\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Budi Hermanto further stated that his side, through the ranks of the\nDirectorate of General Criminal Investigation of Metro Jaya Police and\naffiliated police resorts, will continue to take action against\nperpetrators of thuggery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will ask the ranks of the Directorate of General Criminal\nInvestigation and Criminal Investigation units to take action against\nindividuals who commit criminal violations against small traders,\u201d he\nexplained.<\/p>\n<p>The viral incident occurred on Thursday (9\/4) around 23:40 WIB. In\nthe circulating video, the perpetrator is seen smashing the bowls of a\nporridge seller trading on Jalan Taman Kebon Sirih, Kampung Bali, Tanah\nAbang, Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>It is narrated that the perpetrator demanded Rp100,000 from the\ntrader. The three\nperpetrators are TDT (26), DA (36), and OP (36).<\/p>\n<p>Demanding \u2018Security Fee\u2019 by Force<\/p>\n<p>Tanah Abang Metro Police Sector Chief, AKBP Dhimas Prasetyo, said the\nperpetrators extorted the victim for Rp300,000 under the pretext of a\nsecurity fee. The perpetrators also threatened to stab the victim if his\ndemand was not met.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reporter was selling porridge at the scene when three\nperpetrators arrived demanding a security fee of Rp300,000 while\nthreatening to stab if not given,\u201d said Dhimas.<\/p>\n<p>The perpetrators are also said to have carried out extortion against\na coffee stall on Jalan Fachrudin, Central Jakarta.
