        "content": "<p>Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Bank Indonesia (BI) has reported that many\nexporters have begun converting US dollars into rupiah following the\nissuance of a policy on Export Proceeds (DHE). Senior Deputy Governor of\nBank Indonesia Destry Damayanti stated that a significant number of\nexporters have already converted US dollars to rupiah, even though the\nmandatory conversion is currently capped at a maximum of 50%. \u201cBased on\nour monitoring, the number of exporters converting US dollars to rupiah\nis already quite substantial. We can see from those entering and\ncarrying out conversions that it is already quite a lot,\u201d Destry said\nduring CNBC Indonesia\u2019s Economic Update 2026, quoted on Wednesday\n(24\/6\/2026). This development follows the issuance of Government\nRegulation (PP) Number 21 of 2026 concerning DHE. The regulation has\nprovided exporters with certainty, leading many to begin conversions.\n\u201cLooking back, with the issuance of PP Number 21 of 2026 (the DHE PP),\nwe have seen that exporters now have certainty. They finally know the\ndecision: \u2018Okay, we will convert 50%\u2019. Previously, they had not yet\nconverted, but after the PP was issued, we have seen conversions\nstarting to occur,\u201d she continued. Destry added that many exporters are\nalso converting to meet obligations such as debt repayments, purchasing\nraw materials, and other needs. \u201cAfter an evaluation, we saw that they\nactually have needs, for example to pay their debts, or they need to\nobtain raw materials from imports, so they have those obligations,\nimport duties, and so on,\u201d she explained. She also noted that with the\nnew PP on DHE and because exporters are given a three-month compensation\nperiod to place DHE into special accounts, the potential for conversion\ncould be even greater.<\/p>",
