A mysterious explosion occurred at a mosque in the Pesona Regency\nhousing complex in Patrang District, Jember Regency, East Java during\ncongregational tarawih prayers on Monday 16 March in the evening.<\/p>\n
The explosion resulted in no fatalities, only injuries. The blast\ncaused damage to the mosque\u2019s roof and sparked panic among residents of\nthe housing complex and those performing tarawih prayers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe explosion was quite loud and was heard in the neighbouring\nvillage,\u201d said mosque custodian Muhammad Fadil on Tuesday 17 March early\nmorning.<\/p>\n
According to him, the explosion occurred at approximately 19:30 WIB\nduring tarawih prayers, causing many worshippers to rush out of the\nmosque.<\/p>\n
\u201cOne person was taken to the emergency unit at RSUD dr Soebandi\nhospital as he was suspected of experiencing hearing loss,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He explained the explosion occurred near the male ablution area and\ncaused damage to the mosque\u2019s ceiling and a bookcase cabinet.<\/p>\n
The Head of Investigations at Jember Police Station, AKP Angga\nRiatma, stated that police immediately went to the location after\nreceiving information from the public.<\/p>\n
\u201cPolice immediately sterilised the location and conducted an\ninvestigation into the cause of the explosion,\u201d he said on Tuesday early\nmorning.<\/p>\n
He stated that police established a perimeter at the mosque and\nappealed to the public not to approach the area as Jember Police\ndeployed bomb disposal experts.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe cannot yet conclude the cause of the explosion and are still\nprocessing the crime scene,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
