Explosion kills jogger in Sawangan<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: A man was killed and another was injured by a strong
\nblast from a package believed to contain firecrackers that had
\nbeen abandoned near Jl. Patria Land in Sawangan, Depok, on Monday
\nmorning.<\/p>\n
Sahrul, who was jogging in the area when the firecrackers
\nexploded, was killed, while Anas, an ojek (motorcycle taxi)
\ndriver was injured and rushed to Bhakti Yudha hospital.<\/p>\n
\"Based on the information that we have so far, someone threw
\naway the firecrackers and then -- we don't know how -- it
\nexploded and killed the jogger,\" Jakarta Police chief Insp.Gen.
\nMakbul Padmanagara said here.<\/p>\n
He said the police were still investigating how the package
\ncame to be where it was and why it exploded.<\/p>\n
Padmanagara also said the city police dismissed two police
\nofficers for being involved in a drug abuse incident on New
\nYear's Eve, in which a police officer died from a drug overdose.<\/p>\n
The two dismissed officers were Brig. Sugeng Priyono and Brig.
\nDeni Munarto.<\/p>\n
Two other officers, First Brig. Zaidan Jauhari and Brig. Agung
\nSayekti, might also be punished for a similar offense, he said,
\nadding that their case was still being processed.<\/p>\n
The four officers were found with Brig. Muhdi, who died of an
\noverdose after consuming drugs at the Athena discotheque on Jl.
\nKali Besar, Tambora, West Jakarta, during the New Year's
\nfiesta.--JP<\/p>",
