Jakarta (ANTARA) - Three Indonesian personnel serving with the United\nNations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) were injured in an explosion\nat a UN facility near El Adeisse in southern Lebanon on Friday (3\/4)\nafternoon.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis afternoon, an explosion at a UN facility near El Adeisse\ninjured three peacekeepers, two of whom sustained serious injuries,\u201d\nsaid UNIFIL Spokesperson Kandice Ardiel in a statement issued by the\nUnited Nations Information Centre in Indonesia (UNIC).<\/p>\n
The three Indonesian personnel have been evacuated to a hospital for\ntreatment.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe do not yet know the origin of the explosion,\u201d Ardiel said.<\/p>\n
She described this week as a difficult period for peacekeeping forces\nin UNIFIL\u2019s area of operations.<\/p>\n
She also expressed hopes for a speedy recovery for all the\nvictims.<\/p>\n
UNIFIL has reminded all parties to ensure the safety of peacekeeping\npersonnel and to avoid combat activities around the operational\narea.<\/p>\n
This latest incident adds to the grief for Indonesia, which\npreviously lost three personnel in Lebanon.<\/p>\n
Private First Class Farizal Rhomadhon was killed by artillery fire\nnear the Indonesian contingent\u2019s position close to Adchit Al Qusayr on\nSunday (29\/3).<\/p>\n
The following day, two other Indonesian personnel, Captain (Inf)\nZulmi Aditya Iskandar and Sergeant Major Muhammad Nur Ichwan, were\nkilled in an attack on the convoy they were escorting.<\/p>\n
To date, it has not been confirmed who is responsible for the deaths\nof these three peacekeeping force members.<\/p>\n
