Experts to discuss remote sensing system<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): About 75 experts from Europe and Indonesia will
\nexchange ideas on the application of remote sensing technology in
\na conference, to take place from June 6 to June 8.<\/p>\n
In addition to the 75 presenting papers, 600 people are
\nexpected to attend the conference, which is jointly organized by
\nthe Agency for Assessment and Application of Technology and the
\nFrench Embassy.<\/p>\n
The participants will consist of producers and consumers of
\nremote sensing technology and geographic information system, the
\nagency's Director of Natural Resources Inventory Indroyono
\nSoesilo said in a press conference yesterday.<\/p>\n
Indonesia will use the opportunity to explore cooperation with
\nnumerous institutions in Europe on the application of remote
\nsensing technology.<\/p>\n
Indonesia has extensively applied the remote sensing
\ntechnology to numerous purposes, such as coastal areas
\ndevelopment planning, spatial zoning, land mapping, forest
\nmanagement, pollution control and fishery development.<\/p>\n
Along with the conference, an exhibition of space technology
\nwill be held and is open to the public, especially students.<\/p>\n
Several European space industries, such as Arianespace, SPOT-
\nAsia, Thomson-CSF, BCEOM and SCOT Conceil will participate in the
\nconference and exhibition, Indroyono said. (rms)<\/p>",
