Expatriates renovate Bogor school<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Several expatriates and members of the Jakarta
\nChapter of the Harley Owners Group, from Rancamaya Estate, Bogor,
\nmade a donation to renovate an elementary school building.<\/p>\n
The renovation of Pangerasan elementary school was prompted by
\ndeep concern on behalf of the expatriates at the school's poor
\ncondition.<\/p>\n
\"Almost 70 percent of the building was a total wreck, and only
\ntwo classrooms were left, but they could have collapsed at any
\ntime,\" said Herdiana Kiehl, one of the donors, who also works as
\nan English teacher at the school.<\/p>\n
The school, Kiehl said, had 122 students but only two
\nteachers.<\/p>\n
\"We have completed renovation of the school, comprising six
\nclassrooms, a library and a staff room. And, in readiness for the
\nnew academic year in July this year, we have appointed four
\nteachers,\" said Kiehl.<\/p>\n
Hopefully, other expatriates might take similar measures to
\nhelp state schools, most of which are unsuitable as study venues,
