\nin Forum No. 12\/V\/23 September 1996. Moreover, this has happened
\nas a wave of foreign fruit like apples from the USA, Australian
\npears, Mandarin oranges, New Zealand apples, red grapes, and
\nmore, are hitting the local market.<\/p>\n
The spirits of these tangerine growers are low. How do we
\nexpect to promote local fruit consumption if preference for
\nimported fruit appears overwhelming?<\/p>\n
While trying to stem the flow of imported fruit, the tangerine
\ngrowers of Pontianak in West Kalimantan bemoan the existing
\ncommercial procedures.<\/p>\n
Thousands of tangerine growers in West Kalimantan have left
\ntheir profession for menial jobs in neighboring Malaysia. They
\nare forced to do so to sustain themselves and their families with
\na steady income.<\/p>\n
Being a great nation due to the achievements of its people,
\nIndonesia should eliminate the tangerine trade order and the
\nexisting commercial procedures. Let the growers take care after
\nthey produce themselves under fair supervision. Do not let tons
\nof tangerines rot away for unclear reasons.<\/p>\n
