        "content": "<p>Bank Indonesia (BI) is strengthening synergy with all stakeholders,\nincluding the government, in response to the weakening rupiah, which has\nrecently hit new levels in the range of Rp17,900 per US dollar.<\/p>\n<p>Ramdan Denny Prakoso, Head of the BI Communication Department, stated\nthat BI views the stability of the rupiah exchange rate as a task\nrequiring synergy from all parties. \u201cTo this end, Bank Indonesia\ncontinues to strengthen coordination with the government, the Financial\nServices Authority (OJK), the banking sector, the business community,\nand market participants to ensure that market mechanisms work well and\nto bolster the external resilience of the national economy,\u201d Ramdan said\nin a written statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Ramdan ensured that the Indonesian central bank\ncontinues to closely monitor developments in both global and domestic\nfinancial markets. BI also confirmed its ongoing presence in the market,\ntaking necessary, consistent, and measured steps to maintain the\nstability of the rupiah exchange rate and strengthen external\nresilience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBank Indonesia remains active in the market by optimising all its\npolicy instruments to ensure market mechanisms function properly and to\nmaintain adequate foreign exchange liquidity to support financial market\nstability,\u201d said Ramdan.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the measures to maintain exchange rate stability,\neffective 2 June 2024, BI has implemented a threshold for cash purchases\nof foreign exchange against the rupiah without underlying documentation,\nlimited to 25,000 US dollars per participant per month. Additionally, BI\ncontinues to encourage the use of local currencies in bilateral\ncooperation through the Local Currency Transaction (LCT) scheme to\nreduce dependence on the US dollar and mitigate exchange rate volatility\nrisks. LCT cooperation has already been established with China, Japan,\nMalaysia, Thailand, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates.<\/p>",
