Dr Sholihul Muhibbi, Sp.N.,\nM.Si.Med, stated that excessive noise stimulation can induce a bodily\nstress reaction via the nervous system, leading to indirect health\ndisturbances.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExcessive noise stimulation can trigger a stress reaction in the\nbody, which is responded to by the autonomic nervous system that\nregulates everything from heart rate to cortisol hormones, potentially\ncausing both short-term and long-term disruptions,\u201d Sholihul told ANTARA\nin Jakarta on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>According to Sholihul, exposure to high-level noise, such as that\nfrom loudspeakers, can also directly result in damage to the auditory\nnerves.<\/p>\n<p>Sholihul noted that such exposure can damage the hearing nerves,\ninitially causing impairment in high frequencies, which, if prolonged,\nwill lead to impairment in medium and low frequencies.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, explained\nthat the government will review the permissible noise levels or decibels\nfor the use of loudspeakers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are looking at what the limits should be, for example, the\ndecibel level allowed. If there is a certain decibels level that can\ndisturb health, then we will prohibit it,\u201d said Tito.<\/p>\n<p>Tito stated that such prohibitions could be implemented through Laws\nor subordinate regulations. He also opened the possibility of issuing\nministerial-level regulations if specific regulations governing the\nissue do not yet exist.<\/p>\n<p>In this regard, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian is reviewing\nthe drafting of regulations related to the use of \u2018sound horeg\u2019\nalongside several relevant agencies, including the National Police, the\nMinistry of Health, and the Ministry of Religious Affairs.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Sound horeg\u2019 refers to parades conducted by groups of people playing\nmusic through loud speakers mounted on pickups or trucks, which then\ntravel through residential areas or main roads. The \u2018sound horeg\u2019\nphenomenon has become increasingly prevalent in several regions, such as\nEast Java.<\/p>",
