        "content": "<p>Excelcomindo Pratama (Pro-XL), a major cell-phone player<\/p>\n<p>Some people use their cellular phone occasionally, while<br>\nothers use theirs a lot. Whereas the communications requirements<br>\nof large multinational corporations are perhaps even more diverse<br>\nthan an individual&apos;s.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone and every company, in the industry jargon, has<br>\n&quot;unique and specific cellular needs&quot;.<\/p>\n<p>GSM-based cellular phone operator PT Excelcomindo Pratama<br>\n(Pro-XL) recognizes that these needs, be they individual or<br>\ncorporate, have to be met in specific and unique ways.<\/p>\n<p>Since its establishment in October 1998, Pro-XL has been doing<br>\njust this, finding innovative solutions for a wide range of<br>\nmultinational companies and individuals; and in the process, has<br>\nestablished approximately a 20 percent market share.<\/p>\n<p>Its sales department is divided into two units: Corporate<br>\nService, which provides cellular telecommunication solutions for<br>\ncorporate clients; and Premium Sales, which provides service for<br>\nindividual pro-XL postpaid customers.<\/p>\n<p>Pro-XL corporate sales and premium services department general<br>\nmanager, Agung B. Laksono, explained his and his two teams<br>\nphilosophy: &quot;We are not just in the business of selling a<br>\nproduct. We first discuss the customer&apos;s requirements and offer<br>\nthe service based upon what we decide upon.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Its qualified human resources are backed up by the use of<br>\nadvanced fiber optic technology, meaning users of its network<br>\nthroughout Java, Bali and Lombok receive crystal-clear<br>\ncommunications.<\/p>\n<p>Solutions<\/p>\n<p>With this in mind, the department has come up with an<br>\nimaginative range of services and products for their clients.<\/p>\n<p>Corporate Close Group Billing is an option for companies that<br>\nwish their workforce to stay in touch without running up huge<br>\nbills. It promises major discounts, in some cases cheaper call<br>\nfees than on land-lined phones, for internal communications<br>\nbetween Pro-XL customers within the same company. Phone usage can<br>\nalso be controlled; users can set their own limits.<\/p>\n<p>Bills can also be dispatched on an individual department<br>\nlevel, to further control costs. Bill summaries for total company<br>\nusage are also available. This service is ideal for companies<br>\nthat wish to separate the cell-phone usage of each department. In<br>\naddition, every outgoing call can be identified. So bosses need<br>\nnot worry that company money is being used to subsidize a<br>\nfledgling love affair, for example. Paying the bills is a smooth<br>\nprocess; billing information is available online, as is paying by<br>\ndirect debit from major banks.<\/p>\n<p>Corporate Private Net is a service offered to an individual<br>\nuser or a group of users within a company. The objective is to<br>\nlimit outgoing calls by only allowing certain numbers to be<br>\ndialed, normally work or business related.<\/p>\n<p>Even though outgoing numbers are controlled, users of the<br>\nCorporate Private Net can still receive calls from whomever. They<br>\ncan also add any Pro-XL postpaid feature to the service.<\/p>\n<p>Flexibility<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Flexibility is the key. And we are still not yet satisfied.<br>\nWe plan to become even more flexible,&quot; Agung promises. Each<br>\ncustomer, be they individual or corporate, has a dedicated<br>\nrepresentative to explain to them their options and keep them in<br>\ntouch with new developments. Agung says the teams in both<br>\nSurabaya and Jakarta are kept consistently busy.<\/p>\n<p>One such development is Wireless Applied Technology (WAP),<br>\nwhereby cell-phone users can access information from the Internet<br>\nand send and receive e-mails on the move. For Pro-XL, these<br>\ntechnologies fall under value-added services. The company is<br>\ncurrently undergoing trials and will be at the forefront making<br>\nit available.<\/p>\n<p>According to Agung, the key factors are handset availability<br>\nand whether customers are comfortable with the technologies. One<br>\nthing is for sure, &quot;the technology is not the driver behind the<br>\ndevelopment, but the service is&quot;.
