Ex-regent to be questioned today<\/p>\n
YOGYAKARTA: Former Bantul Regent Col. Sri Roso Sudarmo has
\nbeen summoned as a suspect in a bribery case by the military
\npolice here and will be questioned today.<\/p>\n
Local Military Police commander Lt. Col. Unggul Kawistara
\nYudoyono said here Saturday that Sri Roso would be interrogated
\nfor allegedly offering the Dharmais charity foundation Rp 1
\nbillion (US$71,500) to smooth his reappointment as Bantul regent
\nfor the 1996\/2001 term.<\/p>\n
The foundation is chaired by former president Soeharto.<\/p>\n
Unggul said that despite focusing its main attention on the
\nbribery charges, the military police investigation would also be
\nopen to the possibility of looking for clues which might connect
\nthe regent to the unsolved murder of Bernas daily journalist,
\nFuad Muhammad Syafrudin, in 1996.<\/p>\n
Fuad, also known as Udin, was among a few journalists who
\nfirst reported Sri Roso's alleged attempt to offer the \"donation\"
\nto the foundation.<\/p>\n
Yesterday, Unggul also said that everybody allegedly linked to
\nthe bribery case would be summoned for questioning.<\/p>\n
He said this would include the Argomulyo village head in
\nGodean subdistrict of Bantul, R. Notosuwito, who is also a
