London (ANTARA) - The European Union (EU) foreign policy chief, Kaja\nKlaus, warned on Wednesday that Israel\u2019s E1 settlement project in the\nWest Bank will further weaken the prospects of a two-state solution.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe E1 settlement will further undermine the prospects of a\ntwo-state solution by dividing the West Bank,\u201d Kallas stated during a\npress conference following an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers\nin Wicklow, Ireland.<\/p>\n
\u201cSettler violence against Palestinians continues to increase, and is\noften left unchecked without decisive action,\u201d Kallas added.<\/p>\n
She further noted that the EU will continue to support the Gaza Peace\nPlan and work alongside partners to realise a two-state solution.<\/p>\n
The informal meeting, also known as the Gymnich meeting, was held on\nTuesday (1\/9) and Wednesday under the Irish Presidency of the Council of\nthe European Union.<\/p>\n
The meeting brought together EU foreign ministers to conduct\nstrategic discussions regarding current geopolitical developments.<\/p>\n
Israel continued its controversial E1 settlement project in the West\nBank in August, issuing tenders for 1,234 residential units.<\/p>\n
