        "content": "<p>Moscow (ANTARA) - European Council President Antonio Costa stated on\nMonday that the European Union (EU) is striving to establish relations\nthat are \u201cas close as possible\u201d with Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen\nannounced plans to begin granting Canada its first EU association member\nstatus. However, she did not provide further details regarding the\nimplications of this status.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEssentially, this concept means we want to do more and work as\nclosely as possible with Canada,\u201d Costa told Politico.<\/p>\n<p>According to Costa, the European Union aims to build a relationship\nof maximum closeness with Canada. \u201cWe can cooperate in the fields of\ndefence and security. We can also collaborate on investments in\nartificial intelligence (AI), quantum technology, and in facing new\ntechnological challenges,\u201d the official added.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, The Wall Street Journal reported that amidst the failure\nof trade negotiations with the US, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney\nproposed that his country become an EU associate member.
