        "content": "<p>EU fines Asian shippers<\/p>\n<p>BRUSSELS (Reuter): The European Commission said yesterday it<br>\nhad banned an inland transport price-fixing agreement by the Far<br>\nEastern Freight Conference (FEFC) of shipping companies operating<br>\nEurope-Asia container transport.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission fined the following companies a symbolic 10,000<br>\nEuropean currency units (US$12,000) each: Denmark's AP Moller-<br>\nMaersk Line, Britain's P&amp;O Containers Limited and Orient Overseas<br>\nContainers, Japan's Nippon Yusen Kaisha, Singapore's Neptune<br>\nOrient lines, Companie Generale Maritime, Hapag-Lloyd<br>\nAktiengesellschaft, Croatia Line, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd,<br>\nLloyd Triestino di Navigatizione SpA, Malaysian International<br>\nShipping, Mitsui OSK Lines, and Nedlloyd Lijnen.<\/p>\n<p>The Commission said the FEFC violated EU competition rules.<\/p>",
