        "content": "<p>EU duties on RI products<\/p>\n<p>BRUSSELS (AFP): The European Commission is to reintroduce<br>\nimport duties on leather-topped shoes from Indonesia, and radio<br>\nand television equipment from Malaysia and China, effective on<br>\nAug. 26, the European Union's official journal indicated<br>\nyesterday.<\/p>\n<p>These products were covered by generalized preferences<br>\naccorded by the EU to developing countries within certain limits.<\/p>\n<p>However imports of these goods for the period between July 1<br>\nto Dec. 31, 1994 have already gone beyond these limits, and the<br>\nCommission moved rapidly to reintroduce the duties.<\/p>\n<p>The six-month ceiling on imports of leather-topped shoes from<br>\nIndonesia is set at 2.205 million Ecus (US$2.69 million) and<br>\nthose for broadcasting receivers, radio telephones and radio<br>\ntelegraphic equipment from Malaysia and China are set at 2.315<br>\nmillion Ecus.<\/p>\n<p>The ceiling for television sets (including video monitors)<br>\nimported from Malaysia and China is set at 2.315 million Ecus.<\/p>",
