        "content": "<p>Ethnic riot hits Pekalongan<\/p>\n<p>PEKALONGAN, Central Java: Tension gripped this coastal town on<br>\nWednesday after a group of people attacked and looted shops<br>\nbelonging to Chinese-Indonesians.<\/p>\n<p>The early morning commotion was stirred by the death of a<br>\npedicab driver, Diyono, allegedly beaten by an ethnic Chinese man<br>\nidentified as Yong Bie.<\/p>\n<p>Police told Antara that Diyono was killed following a dispute<br>\nwith Yong, who refused the pedicab driver&apos;s demand for an<br>\nadditional Rp 5,000. Diyono, who was drunk, fell and received a<br>\nhead injury. He died during treatment at a private hospital.<\/p>\n<p>News of the death aroused anger among pedicab drivers who then<br>\nransacked Yong&apos;s shop and others nearby.<\/p>\n<p>Dozens of Mobile Police Brigade and military personnel were<br>\ndeployed to quell the unrest.<\/p>\n<p>Pekalongan Police chief Col.
