Many individuals fall victim to crimes in the digital era due to a
lack of awareness or negligence in managing confidential personal
data.

This was acknowledged by Hari Mulyana, Vice President at PT Bank
Mandiri (Persero) Tbk. In response to these risks, he advised the public
to be more cautious when using social media and to maintain the
confidentiality of personal data, particularly regarding phishing.

As is widely known, phishing is a fraudulent practice designed to
trick victims into sharing personal data, passwords, or One-Time
Passwords (OTP) through fake links.

“Currently, there are many diverse offers on social media. We must be
selective in distinguishing which transactions do not pose a risk to us.
Regarding OTPs, never provide your OTP to anyone else. This includes
your own partner; they perhaps do not need to know,” he stated during
the Lampung Financial Festival at Novotel Bandar Lampung on Sunday
(6/9/2026).

Secondly, he addressed card skimming, which involves the theft of ATM
and credit card data using illegal reading devices on ATM or EDC
machines.

“Regarding credit cards, protect the last three digits of the card;
let us all guard our accounts. We are the ones managing and controlling
the risks. Therefore, regardless of what occurs,” he explained.

Regarding mobile applications, Bank Mandiri currently offers Livin’
by Mandiri. The application is considered to have robust security with
multi-layered protection to safeguard user transactions.

He further advised that if anything suspicious occurs, individuals
should immediately contact the official Bank Mandiri call centre.

“If there is something suspicious, there is the Livin’ call, which is
free of charge, and you can block your card via the Livin’ app. From the
banking side, we are present not only through digital applications but
also through risk mitigation; however, the active role of the customer
is also required,” he clarified.
",
