Escaped assassin, helpful girlfriend captured in raid<\/p>\n

A joint team of police and military officers captured early on
\nWednesday a former marine who had fled for a second time a
\nmilitary prison to evade execution.<\/p>\n
The former soldier, Suud Rusli, offered no opposition when
\nsecurity forces surrounded his hideout near the West Java town of
\nSubang, about 100 kilometers east of Jakarta. The joint team also
\narrested Suud's girlfriend Ida Handiyani, who is believed to have
\nhelped him escape from his cell at the Navy detention center in
\nCimanggis, West Java on Nov. 6.<\/p>\n
Head of the team Lt. Col. Firman Ahmadi said the capture
\nfollowed surveillance on Susukan Girang village, where Suud and
\nIda were believed to have been hiding since Nov. 9.<\/p>\n
\"We traced their whereabouts by tapping their conversations
\nwith their friends and relatives through cellular phones. Local
\npeople in the village also confirmed to us the presence of the
\ncouple, who rented a house in the village,\" Firman told Antara.<\/p>\n
The joint team busted the two in a hut located in the middle
\nof a rice field.<\/p>\n
\"We raided the hut at dawn,\" Firman said, while adding that
\nthe pair were surprised by the raid.<\/p>\n
Suud was sent back to the Cimanggis military prison. But
\nsmarting from his escape, the Navy military police confined him
\nto an isolated cell.<\/p>\n
The Jakarta Police have detained Ina, a supermarket employee,
\nfor questioning. Navy military police detectives accused Ina of
\nsmuggling into the prison a hacksaw blade that helped Suud
\nescape.<\/p>\n
Chief of the Navy Military Police Brig. Gen. Sunarko A.G. had
\nearlier said he considered locking up Suud at either Cimahi
\nmilitary prison in West Java or Surabaya military prison. Suud is
\nfacing execution for his part in a hired assassination of a
\nbusinessman over two years ago.<\/p>\n
Suud, along with a Navy companion, Syam Ahmad Sanusi, also
\nmanaged to escape from a Navy detention center in Central
\nJakarta.<\/p>\n
A military tribunal sentenced them both to death for the
\nmurder of businessman Boedyharto Angsono, the president of a
\ncompany called PT Arena Sarana Bakti, in July 2003.<\/p>\n
The two servicemen also murdered Boediharto's bodyguard,
\nSecond Sgt. Edi Siyep, who was serving in the Army's Special
\nForces (Kopassus).<\/p>\n
Both Suud and Syam were discharged from the military after
\ntheir convictions.<\/p>\n
Unlike Syam, who remains at large, Suud was first captured in
\nMalang, East Java after his hunters shot him in the leg.<\/p>\n
Suud escaped for the second time after a visit by Ina.<\/p>\n
The Navy dismissed the prison's chief warden, Lt. Col. Imam
\nSubarkah, and interrogated four other military guards in
\nconnection with the incident.<\/p>\n
After the second break out, Navy chief Adm. Slamet Subiyanto
\nordered Suud's capture, dead or alive.<\/p>",
