Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has asked for the\nsupport of Islamic scholars regarding Indonesia\u2019s stance amid\nescalations taking place in Gulf states and the Middle East, especially\nafter unilateral military attacks by the United States and Zionist\nIsrael against Iran.<\/p>\n
In a meeting with scholars on the central lawn of the Presidential\nPalace in Jakarta, Thursday night (5 March), President Prabowo stressed\nthat his policies are entirely aimed at the unity and sovereignty of the\nRepublic of Indonesia.<\/p>\n
\u2018This meeting is intended for mutual understanding and listening to\ndevelopments in geopolitical and geo-economic information that have\noccurred recently. In the meeting, the President said that what he has\ndone is for the unity of the Republic of Indonesia, for the unity of the\ncountry, and for the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia,\u2019 said\nAhmad Muzani, the chairman of the People\u2019s Consultative Assembly (MPR),\nexplaining the contents of the meeting with the ulama in a press\nbriefing after the meeting at the Palace, Thursday night (5 March).<\/p>\n
Muzani added that the ulama understood the President\u2019s\nexplanation.<\/p>\n
\u2018The ulama, the kiai, understood this as a measure taken by the\nPresident on the right path, the correct path, because we are all asked\nto continue to provide support, to pray that what the President of the\nRepublic of Indonesia does will proceed well and smoothly,\u2019 Muzani\nsaid.<\/p>\n
\u2018The President also continues to keep himself open to receiving input\nand views from various quarters, including from the ulama and kiai.\nTherefore, I believe this meeting is hoped to be held periodically in\nthe coming weeks or months,\u2019 he added.<\/p>\n
In the same press conference, Presidential Special Adviser for Hajj\nMuhadjir Effendy, who is also a senior figure in Muhammadiyah, explained\nthat in the meeting with the ulama, President Prabowo also explained\nIndonesia\u2019s membership in the Board of Peace (BoP) Gaza.<\/p>\n
