        "content": "<p>The Minister of Environment\/Head of the Environmental Control Agency,\nMoh Jumhur Hidayat, stated that his office will embrace environmental\nNGOs to accommodate their proposals in implementing government policies\nregarding sustainable development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn environmental matters, it is impossible to proceed without\ncollaborating with the civil society movement, as many brilliant ideas\nand field facts are revealed by them. Therefore, we are integrating\ntheir intelligent thoughts (environmental NGOs) into policy, while\nremaining within the framework of sustainable development,\u201d said\nMinister Jumhur Hidayat during an event titled \u201cInspiration of the\nJourney, Work, and Service to the Nation of Prof.\u00a0Dr.\u00a0Emil Salim\u201d in\nJakarta on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasised that the government does not reject ideas or proposals\nfrom environmental NGOs, stating, \u201cLet us be clear, there is no problem.\nI am happy to engage with civil society.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As part of enforcement efforts, the Minister noted that sanctions\nhave been imposed on 3,000 companies for failing to comply with\nenvironmental regulations. \u201cMore than 3,000 entities have received\nsanctions from this office,\u201d said Jumhur Hidayat.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, he revealed that 447 regencies and cities across\nIndonesia have received administrative sanctions from the Ministry of\nEnvironment due to local governments neglecting their duties and\nfunctions in environmental management.<\/p>\n<p>During the event, Indonesian environmental figure Prof.\u00a0Emil Salim\nadvised the Minister to engage various environmental NGOs in the\ngovernment\u2019s efforts to manage the environment. \u201cTry to embrace all\nthese communities. Embrace the Council of Ulama, embrace all community\nleaders, and NGOs. Nature is our teacher. For them, the environment is\nnot merely an object. I ask the Minister, is it possible to continue\nthis spirit?\u201d said Emil Salim.<\/p>",
