Jakarta (ANTARA) - Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq has\ndesignated 20 agglomeration areas across 47 regencies and cities as\npriority investment zones for Waste-to-Electricity Processing\n(PSEL).<\/p>\n
Hanif stated that President Prabowo Subianto has requested\nprioritisation of waste management in urban and agglomeration areas\ngenerating more than 1,000 tonnes of waste per day for PSEL.<\/p>\n
This was conveyed during a press conference with the Minister of\nInvestment and Downstreaming\/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani at the\nDanantara Building in Jakarta on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Ministry of Environment (KLH) has designated 20 agglomerations\nacross 47 regencies and cities. Of these 20 agglomerations, four have\nbeen completed by Danantara, the remaining 16 are complete, and we will\ncomplete the others later,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Hanif explained that these 20 agglomeration areas have met the\nfirst-stage requirements and have received official decrees from the\nKLH.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, cities generating 500-1,000 tonnes of waste per day do not\nmeet the primary requirements of the Presidential Regulation (Perpres)\nthat designates priority PSEL areas with waste generation exceeding\n1,000 tonnes.<\/p>\n
To date, based on monitoring and evaluation by a joint team, there\nare seven agglomeration areas across 26 regencies and cities with waste\ngeneration of 500-1,000 tonnes per day.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe joint team has confirmed their sufficiency and compliance with\nrequirements for PSEL development, so the Environment Minister has\nissued recommendation letters. Why not decrees? Because under Perpres\n109, PSEL may only be utilised in urban agglomerations with waste\ngeneration of 1,000 tonnes or more per day,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He continued that there are still four agglomeration areas across 14\nregencies and cities in the verification stage and yet to receive\nrecommendations due to incomplete prerequisites.<\/p>\n
Therefore, Hanif stated that to date, a total of 31 agglomeration\nareas across 86 regencies and cities have been submitted for PSEL\ninvestment follow-up.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Ministry of Environment will continue to oversee the development\nand on-site management,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming\/Head of BKPM\nRosan Roeslani stated that Danantara and KLH continue to collaborate on\ninvestments in other technologies supporting the PSEL programme.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are open to other technologies, but importantly, we prioritise\ntechnologies that have proven to work well in many countries,\u201d said\nRosan.<\/p>\n
