        "content": "<p>Buibu Baca Buku (BBB) continues to raise awareness on climate and\nenvironmental issues through its Climate Literacy for Mothers programme.\nThe programme aims to empower mothers with awareness and understanding\nto voice their concerns and take action in climate mitigation, ensuring\ntheir perspectives and ideas are part of systemic change.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the two years of implementation since 2024, we have integrated\nclimate literacy into core community activities such as book\ndiscussions, read-aloud sessions, workshops, book review competitions,\nand author discussions,\u201d said BBB Founder and Executive Director Puty\nPuar at the Buibu Berdaya Bumi: From Literacy to Action event at Taman\nIsmail Marzuki (TIM) in Jakarta on Saturday, 30 May.<\/p>\n<p>She explained this approach was adopted to foster accessible climate\nconversations that resonate with community members\u2019 daily lives. \u201cOver\ntime, the programme has expanded into a broader collaboration space,\nempowering over 100 local communities and Community Reading Gardens\nacross 16 provinces from Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam to South Papua,\u201d Puty\nadded.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to distributing climate-themed books, BBB provides\ntraining materials and read-aloud workshops to dozens of communities to\nenable them to run activities locally. \u201cAs the Climate Literacy for\nMothers programme enters its third year in 2026, we are sharing our\njourney\u2019s stories and lessons through this year\u2019s Buibu Berdaya Bumi\nevent,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>The event invites stakeholders to reflect collectively on implemented\nactions, strengthen collaborations, and expand networks to maintain\nmomentum and consistency in climate action. \u201cThe programme has reached\nnearly 9,000 beneficiaries nationwide and collaborates with over 100\npartners,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n<p>The event featured engaging discussions on climate and environmental\nissues, including food systems, energy transition, eco-friendly and\npollution-free cities, and fostering environmental consciousness in\nchildren through school and family ecosystems.<\/p>\n<p>Experienced speakers from environmental and literacy fields attended,\nincluding Agus P Tampubolon (Director of Climate and Just Energy\nTransition at IESR), Gina Karina (Head of the Sustainable Food Systems\nCoalition Secretariat), Muhammad Gibraltar Elmalik (Founder of Bijak\nKertas-Kapten Kepik), Delih Ratnasari (home schooling practitioner),\nRoosie Setiawan (Founder of Reading Bugs, Read Aloud Indonesia\nCommunity), and Ranggi Kanya (Head of Academic at Sekolah Murid\nMerdeka).<\/p>\n<p>BBB also launched two new books in the Panik Family Series: Where\nDoes Electricity Come From? and What Are We Eating Today? As the titles\nsuggest, Where Does Electricity Come From? explains energy sources,\nwhile What Are We Eating Today? traces the journey of food from farm to\nplate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth books are presented with engaging stories and illustrations,\nalongside fun activity guides for parents and children,\u201d she said.
