English course for Navy officers<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Rear Admiral Abu Hanifah Hasanuddin, a personnel
\naffairs assistant to the Navy commander, opened a nine-day
\nEnglish course for 11 of the Navy's high-ranking officers
\nyesterday.<\/p>\n
Abu Hanifah said in his speech that the course, the third
\nconducted by the Navy, was intended mainly to enable the
\nparticipants to hold meetings, discussions and negotiations as
\nwell as to make written reports and presentations in English.<\/p>\n
It is being held at the RE Martadinata Tooth Medical Institute
\non Jl. Bendungan Hilir, South Jakarta.<\/p>\n
"The course program has been designed jointly by the Navy and
\nthe Business Management and Technology Research Center over the
\nlast six months," he said.<\/p>\n
The previous two courses were successful and warmly welcomed
\nby the participants, he said.<\/p>\n
Fourteen officers attended the first course in August and 15
\nthe second in November.<\/p>\n
The instructors have included John W. Rawkins, a lecturer at
\nQueensland University, Australia, and Mrs. Nuriana Sapto, a
\ngraduate of the Malang Teachers Training Institute in East Java.
