        "content": "<p>The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) examined Meta\nand Google over suspicions of violating user protection obligations. The\nexamination of the world\u2019s two largest digital platforms took place at\nKemkomdigi\u2019s office on Tuesday (7 April 2026).<\/p>\n<p>Kemkomdigi stated that Meta had undergone the examination and signed\nthe minutes. Meanwhile, Google complied with the government\u2019s second\nsummons and underwent the examination process on the same day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Kemkomdigi team posed 29 questions to delve deeper into the\nalleged violations of applicable provisions, particularly regarding\nplatforms\u2019 obligations to protect users,\u201d said the Director General of\nDigital Space Supervision at Kemkomdigi, Alexander Sabar, in his\nstatement on Wednesday (8 April 2026).<\/p>\n<p>Alex emphasised that this step is part of the government\u2019s active\noversight to ensure digital platforms fulfil their responsibilities to\nthe public. \u201cWe will further investigate the results of the examinations\nof both platforms,\u201d said Alex.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, Kemkomdigi had summoned Google and Meta (Facebook,\nInstagram, and Threads) to undergo examination regarding compliance with\nchild protection provisions in Government Regulation No.\u00a017 of 2025 on\nthe Governance of Electronic System Operators in Child Protection (PP\nTunas). However, both skipped the first summons. They only complied with\nthe second summons.<\/p>\n<p>It is known that this summoning is the government\u2019s effort to ensure\nthat digital platforms meet their child protection obligations,\nparticularly in restricting account usage by users under 16 years old.\nMinister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid affirmed that this\nstep is taken to keep the digital space safe for children.<\/p>",
