Jakarta, MI \u2014 Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil\nLahadalia has inaugurated Rilke Jeffri Huwae as Director General of Law\nEnforcement at the ESDM Ministry, in a ceremony held at the Chairul\nSaleh Building, the ESDM Ministry\u2019s Secretariat General Office in\nJakarta, on Wednesday (25\/6\/2025).<\/p>\n
Rilke is no stranger to the legal world. Prior to assuming the\ndirectorate general position at ESDM, he served as Expert Staff for\nPriority Investment Sector Development at the Ministry of\nInvestment\/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).<\/p>\n
Rilke is known for his extensive experience in law enforcement,\nbeginning his career as a prosecutor before occupying a number of\nstrategic positions within the prosecutorial service. He previously\nserved as Head of the District Prosecutor\u2019s Office in Fakfak, Bangka and\nTernate, before joining BKPM in 2021 as Head of the Legal Bureau, and\nwas subsequently appointed as expert staff in 2024.<\/p>\n
The inauguration marks Bahlil\u2019s first step in reforming the ESDM\nsector since assuming the ministerial position, replacing Arifin Tasrif.\nOne of his primary focuses is strengthening supervisory and law\nenforcement functions through the establishment of the Directorate\nGeneral of Law Enforcement.<\/p>\n
Bahlil had previously stated that the formation of this directorate\nwas necessary due to the prevalence of violations in the oil, gas, and\nmineral and coal mining sectors. He highlighted the numerous mining\nactivities and oil and gas management operations that do not comply with\nregulations or technical standards.<\/p>\n
\u201cI believe that we are managing mining and oil and gas natural\nresources. There are a great many violations, both those that fall\noutside the proper framework and mining operations that do not conform\nto the standards and norms set out during initial planning. There are\neven cases where permits are suspected of being fraudulent,\u201d Bahlil said\nwhen announcing plans for the directorate\u2019s establishment in October\n2024.<\/p>\n
