Energy being saved at Sheraton Laguna<\/p>\n
NUSA DUA: Sheraton Laguna Nusa Dua hotel is doing what it can
\nto comply with new nationwide energy-saving measures in view of
\nthe current power crisis.<\/p>\n
Through active internal campaigning for awareness, the 270-
\nroom resort's staff have already managed to reduce electricity
\nbills by 9.1 percent from January to June 2005, compared with the
\nsame period last year, despite a significant occupancy increase
\nof 6.6 percent.<\/p>\n
These efforts, says conservation project chief Aditya
\nLukmansyah, have been achieved through electricity management in
\nguest rooms and air-conditioning sytems, and by increasing
\nawareness through an employee campaign to reduce electricity
\nconsumption at the back of the house.<\/p>\n
\"Neither guest safety nor satisfaction have been compromised
\nby the electricity conservation program; we shall continue to
\nlook for more ways to reduce demand, without affecting comfort
\nand efficiency,\" said Sheraton Laguna Nusa Dua Hotel general
\nmanager Richard Suter.<\/p>\n
To reduce Indonesia's reliance on fossil fuels, President
\nSusilo Bambang Yudhoyono introduced sweeping measures on July 10,
\nwhich required government conservation. The Bali government is
\nexpected to follow suit with recommendations for energy saving on
\nthe island.<\/p>\n
\"We are lucky to already have proven plans in place to set a
\ngood example for others in the industry to follow,\" said Suter.<\/p>\n
The resort is launching an internal campaign to seek
\nsuggestions from employees for further energy-saving measures. --
