        "content": "<p>Encore wraps up New Links acquisition<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: Encore International Ltd., owned by the Panigoro family,<br>\nnow holds more than 85 percent stake in the publicly-listed PT.<br>\nMedco Energi Internasional, as it completed the acquisition of<br>\nNew Links Energy Resources Ltd.<\/p>\n<p>New Links owns a 85.5 percent stake in Medco.<\/p>\n<p>Encore bought the remaining 19.9 percent share of New Links<br>\nfrom Cumin Ltd. and 40 percent from PTTEP Offshore Investment<br>\nCompany Ltd., which boosts its ownership in New Links to 100<br>\npercent, for US$343.5 million.<\/p>\n<p>Financing for the transaction was arranged by UOB Asia Limited<br>\nand Merril Lynch (Asia Pacific) Ltd.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The success of this transaction is testament to Medco<br>\nEnergi&apos;s standing and reputation in the international capital<br>\nmarkets,&quot; Roger Suyama, head of Merrill Lynch Investment Banking<br>\nIndonesia, said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Medco is the largest national private oil and gas company in<br>\nIndonesia with $1.43 billion in assets. -- JP<\/p>",
