\u201cIt is indeed important for young people to hear the stories of the\nnation\u2019s founders. The founders were not perfect, but the exemplary\nqualities they bequeathed to us are what we must emulate. Their\nexemplary thinking and attitudes are like an oasis amid today\u2019s\ntransactional politics,\u201d said Kholid in a written statement on Saturday\n(15\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n
Kholid then recounted his experience accompanying PKS President\nAlmuzzammil Yusuf on a pilgrimage to the grave of Mohammad Hatta last\nThursday (13\/08\/2026). During the visit, they were welcomed by two of\nBung Hatta\u2019s daughters, Halida Hatta and Meutia Hatta, and were invited\nto view books of Bung Hatta\u2019s intellectual works.<\/p>\n
According to Kholid, Bung Hatta is not only known as a figure with\nstrong thinking in the fields of economics and cooperatives. Bung Hatta\nalso laid the foundations of Indonesia\u2019s free and active foreign\npolicy.<\/p>\n
\u201cI said to the party president that Bung Hatta\u2019s intellectual legacy\nmust be passed on to Indonesia\u2019s younger generation. He not only wrote\ndown his thoughts, but also bequeathed an example,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Kholid revealed that during the meeting with Bung Hatta\u2019s daughters,\nhe asked about Bung Hatta\u2019s secret in maintaining integrity, morality\nand exemplary conduct. The answer given by Halida Hatta, according to\nhim, was deeply touching, namely \u201cqanaah\u201d, or feeling content.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were deeply moved by that answer. As long as we are accepting,\nnot greedy, not excessive in life, and we know the limits of propriety,\nthen God willing we can maintain morality in all our policies.
