        "content": "<p>Interior Minister (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian, as Head of the\nTask Force for Accelerating Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and\nReconstruction (Kasatgas PRR), stated that the government is entering\nthe recovery phase in areas affected by the disaster in Aceh, North\nSumatra (Sumut), and West Sumatra (Sumbar).<\/p>\n<p>The statement was made by Tito after a progress meeting on\naccelerating rehabilitation and reconstruction post-Sumatra disaster\nwith the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko\nPMK) Pratikno at the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) headquarters\nin Jakarta on Tuesday (12\/5\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Tito explained that the emergency response period has been completed,\nand the affected areas are now transitioning to recovery.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the transition period in Sumut and Sumbar is nearly\ncomplete, while in Aceh it has been extended before entering full\nrecovery.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, he revealed that several basic services in the affected\nareas are beginning to return to normal, including government activities\nin Aceh Tamiang Regency.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, hospital services across all regencies are said to have\nresumed normal operations. However, some auxiliary health centres in\nvillages are still in the handling phase.<\/p>\n<p>Electricity supply has also almost fully recovered, except in some\nisolated areas due to disrupted road access. As a temporary solution,\nthe government is distributing generator sets (gensets) to the affected\nregions.<\/p>\n<p>In the education sector, the government, together with relevant\nministries, is coordinating with contractors to accelerate the repair of\neducational facilities based on priority scales.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEspecially schools where the learning process is not yet ideal. The\nlearning process is already 100 percent (back running), but not yet\nideal,\u201d said Tito.<\/p>\n<p>On that occasion, he emphasised that budget support is a crucial\nfactor in accelerating recovery.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, the central government is channelling additional regional\ntransfers (TKD) amounting to Rp 10.6 trillion for the three affected\nprovinces.<\/p>\n<p>The funds are now with local governments (pemda) at the provincial,\nregency, and city levels. The central government is continuously\nmonitoring the use of TKD to ensure it is on target and able to meet the\nurgent needs of the community.<\/p>",
