Emergency law<\/p>\n
I sent a letter to the editor of The Jakarta Post in which I
\nproposed that the government start thinking about proclaiming an
\nemergency law (in Dutch: SOB), because of the worsening
\nsituation.<\/p>\n
In my original text, printed on June 30, the sentence read:
\n\"This cannot continue and I think it is not wrong if the
\ngovernment starts thinking of proclaiming an emergency
\nsituation.\"<\/p>\n
The editor changed it in such a way that the opposite is
\nwritten as follows: \"I think it would be quite wrong for the
\ngovernment to consider...\"<\/p>\n
I accept the rule that letters are subject to editing, but if
\nthe meaning is changed completely, I think I have the right to
\nask for your attention to change it.<\/p>\n
In addition, I read a letter by Srikandi from Bogor, West
\nJava, printed on the same day as mine. It is about Tutty Alawiah,
\na minister of the Development and Reform Cabinet, whose voice is
\nhardly \"every\" heard. I think every should have been changed to
\never.<\/p>\n
