        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - Secretary for Economic Policy at the Golkar\nParty\u2019s Central Executive Board, Abdul Rahman Farisi, stated that the\nelectricity export agreement from Indonesia to Singapore must be\nmutually beneficial for both parties and based on a fair price for both.\n\u201cWe appreciate the stance of the Minister of Energy and Mineral\nResources, Bahlil Lahadalia, who has shown the government\u2019s prudence in\ndetermining the price. This is the right step considering Indonesia\u2019s\nstrategic position as an energy exporting country,\u201d he said in Jakarta\non Wednesday. Economically, electricity prices are indeed determined by\nmarket mechanisms, but Indonesia has a better bargaining position to\ninfluence the price because it is the exporting country offering the\nelectricity. \u201cMeanwhile, Singapore is the party that needs the supply,\u201d\nsaid the former lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business,\nHasanuddin University. He explained that the price equilibrium point is\nan important factor because it will determine the extent to which\nelectricity exports provide economic benefits for Indonesia while\nremaining attractive to Singapore as the purchasing country. He assessed\nthat setting the right price will demonstrate how much benefit Indonesia\nreceives from the electricity sale. On the other hand, Singapore will\nalso consider whether buying electricity from Indonesia is more\nefficient than building its own power generation capacity, which has\nvarious limitations, including land constraints. Abdul Rahman considered\nMinister Bahlil\u2019s statement, which desires a win-win solution for the\nelectricity export price, as reflecting the government\u2019s understanding\nof Indonesia\u2019s bargaining position in regional energy cooperation. \u201cWith\nthis position, Indonesia has the room to ensure that the price formed is\na proper price, profitable for Indonesia, while still providing economic\nvalue for the cooperation partner,\u201d he said. He emphasised that in every\ninternational negotiation, government officials representing the country\nmust always prioritise national interests and public welfare. Every\nnegotiation conducted on behalf of the state must always be directed\ntowards obtaining the greatest possible benefit for the prosperity of\nthe people. \u201cInternational cooperation is certainly important, but\neconomic benefits, advantages for Indonesia, and the sustainability of\nthe cooperative relationship must be the main objectives,\u201d he said.<\/p>",
