Anindya Novian Bakrie, Chairman of PT VKTR Teknologi Mobilitas Tbk, highlighted the strategic role of electric buses and trucks in building Indonesia's electric vehicle ecosystem, potentially saving up to $5 billion annually in fuel subsidies. This shift would reduce reliance on fossil fuels in heavy transport, easing the government's subsidy burden and supporting national energy independence. The initiative aligns with government efforts towards full green mobility and a 100 GW renewable energy target, viewing current crises as opportunities for significant leaps in development.

JAKARTA – Efforts to promote vehicle electrification in Indonesia
will not only impact the environment but also hold significant potential
to save state expenditure.

This was stated by Anindya Novian Bakrie, Chairman of PT VKTR
Teknologi Mobilitas Tbk, who emphasised the major efficiency gains from
using electric buses and trucks.

According to him, commercial vehicles such as buses and trucks play a
strategic role in building the national electric vehicle ecosystem.

“We chose electric buses and trucks because they can serve as a
pillar for the growth of the electric industry ecosystem,” said Anindya,
during a live broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube
channel on Thursday (9/4/2026).

“Indeed, they are not as exciting as motorcycles or cars, but they
can drive a large ecosystem. The fuel subsidy savings from electrifying
buses and trucks could reach $5 billion per year, Mr President,” he
added.

With reduced consumption of fossil fuels in the heavy transport
sector, the government’s subsidy burden can be gradually alleviated.

Not only that, Anindya also highlighted the importance of a
comprehensive approach in developing the electric vehicle ecosystem.

“We are also very pleased with the government’s efforts to achieve
full green mobility; not just electric vehicles but also from the
charging station side. We see that in the future, everything can support
the government’s programme to achieve 100 GW,” he said.

In his view, transport electrification is an important part of the
broader strategy towards national energy independence.

“Mr President always teaches us that the history of development often
turns crises into opportunities for major leaps,” said Anindya.

“Therefore, Vektor, which in physics means scale and direction, we
believe the scale is large—Indonesia with its natural resources and
people—and the direction is towards independence. So this is the
momentum, Mr President,” he stated.

By focusing on commercial vehicles such as electric buses and trucks,
this step is believed to accelerate the formation of a strong electric
vehicle ecosystem while reducing dependence on fossil energy.
",
