Election violations increase<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: The police recorded 15 cases of election violations
\nin Jakarta, Tangerang, Bekasi and Depok, most of which were early
\ncampaigning.<\/p>\n
The latest figures showed an addition of seven cases within
\nthe last two weeks.<\/p>\n
\"Of the 15 cases, we have submitted four to the Jakarta
\nProsecutor's Office,\" Jakarta Police detectives chief Sr. Comr.
\nMathius Salempang said on Wednesday, but refused to elaborate.<\/p>\n
He added that police had dropped an investigation into an
\nalleged bribe involving a legislative candidate residing in
\nCiputat, South Jakarta.<\/p>\n
\"We have asked several expert witnesses regarding the case,
\nand they did not find any violations,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Salempang said his office was also considering halting the
\ninquiry into the National Awakening Party (PKB), who were accused
\nof early campaigning while organizing a march on Dec. 4, 2003.<\/p>\n
\"Expert witnesses said that PKB did not distribute party
\npromotional material in the march, so it was not a campaign.\"
