Election of heads of Bekasi villages<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The Bekasi regency will hold an election for six
\nlocal village heads on Oct. 8, head of the regency's
\nadministration affairs, Mardiatmo, said over the weekend.<\/p>\n
The six villages, whose chiefs will be replaced, are
\nSukaragam, Tanjung Sari, Telaga Asih, Setia Jaya, Jati Asih and
\nKarang Mekar, he said.<\/p>\n
Mardiatmo said that the village heads are being replaced
\nbecause they were found guilty of violating various regulations,
\nranging from illegal sale of city properties, to misappropriation
\nof haj pilgrimage fees.<\/p>\n
In preparation of the election, a number of residents in the
\nsix villages have declared themselves candidates for the posts of
\nnew chiefs and have started campaigning, he said.<\/p>\n
In a related development, Samlawi, head of Suka Laksana
\nvillage, is being reprimanded because he was accused of violating
\nregulations on discipline.<\/p>\n
M. Sahil, head of Pantai Harapan Jaya village, is being
\nquestioned at the Bekasi Prosecutors' Office due to his alleged
\ninvolvement in the illegal sale of the city's properties,
