An elderly man, identified by the initials S (57), has passed away\nafter being struck by a pharmacy canopy while waiting for his wife to\npurchase medication. Authorities are investigating whether the collapse\nwas triggered by the vibrations from \u2018sound horeng\u2019 sound system trucks\nparticipating in a nearby carnival.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred during a carnival and \u2018sound horeg\u2019 parade\norganised by the Wringinagung Village authorities in Jember on Saturday\n(29\/8) at approximately 10:30 WIB. An eyewitness at the scene, Ulum,\nstated that the victim was standing in the pharmacy area waiting for his\nwife when the structure suddenly gave way.<\/p>\n
Suddenly, the building\u2019s wall and the pharmacy canopy collapsed,\ndirectly striking the victim. \u201cThe victim was waiting for his wife to\nbuy medicine. Moments later, there was a loud noise and the victim had\nfallen, crushed by the wall. He died at the scene,\u201d Ulum reported.<\/p>\n
The sudden, loud impact of the collapsing structure startled local\nresidents and carnival participants. Residents and nearby officials\nimmediately rushed to the scene to carry out evacuation efforts.<\/p>\n
The Chief of Jombang Police, Iptu Imam Kusuma, confirmed that the\nreport was received around 10:30 WIB. He clarified that the victim was\nstruck by the canopy rather than the pharmacy wall.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe victim died due to being hit by the falling canopy. It is true\nthat an incident occurred involving the canopy, but it is still under\ninvestigation by officers,\u201d said Iptu Imam Kusuma.<\/p>\n
The victim\u2019s body has been returned to his family. Police are looking\ninto whether the collapse was linked to the vibrations caused by the\n\u2018sound horeg\u2019 carnival.<\/p>\n
