Eight overpasses, tunnels planned<\/p>\n
In order to alleviate traffic problems in some areas notorious
\nfor traffic congestion, the city administration plans to
\nconstruct another eight overpasses and underpasses, a city
\nofficial has said.<\/p>\n
Soeharto, the head of the City Public Works Office, said
\nMonday that the eight overpasses and underpasses to be built
\ninclude Karet overpass, Jatibaru overpass, Salemba underpass,
\nand Pasar Pagi overpass.<\/p>\n
\"The construction cost of the projects range from Rp 8 billion
\nto Rp 15 billion per route,\" Soeharto said.<\/p>\n
The City Public Works Office has built eight overpasses and
\nunderpasses in the city since 1992, including the Sahardjo
\noverpass in South Jakarta, the Dukuh Atas overpass in Central
\nJakarta, the Pramuka and Kampung Melayu overpasses in East
\nJakarta and the Rasuna Said tunnel in the Kuningan area, South
\nJakarta.<\/p>\n
\"Nine underpasses and overpasses under construction include DI
\nPanjaitan underpass and Buaran overpass in East Jakarta, Tanah
\nAbang underpass and Senen overpass in Central Jakarta and
\nKebayoran overpass in South Jakarta,\" Soeharto said.<\/p>\n
Soeharto said that the development of the 25 underpasses and
\noverpasses by the city administration, in line with the Jakarta
\nUrban Development Project, were expected to be completed by 1997.<\/p>\n
The road projects, Soeharto said, do not include underpass and
\noverpass projects built by private contractors such as those
\nlocated along the new toll road parallel to Jl. TB. Simatupang in
\nSouth Jakarta and the ones constructed and financed by the
