At least eight Iranian military personnel have been reported killed\nin the latest wave of United States strikes on the country\u2019s southern\nregion on Wednesday (8\/7). Tehran has labelled Washington\u2019s attacks as\n\u2018criminal aggression\u2019.<\/p>\n
Iran and the US have become embroiled in tit-for-tat attacks after\nseveral commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz were struck, an act\nallegedly orchestrated by Tehran. Washington pounded dozens of Iranian\ntargets, both on land and at sea, in retaliation for the attacks on\nvessels in the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n
Iran subsequently targeted US military bases in the Gulf region,\nparticularly in Kuwait and Bahrain, as further reprisal.<\/p>\n
\u2018Following the criminal aggression carried out this morning by the\nterrorist US military against areas in southern Iran, eight brave\nmembers of the Air Force and Navy of the Islamic Republic of Iran\u2019s\nmilitary in Bandar Abbas (southern region) and Bushehr (southwestern\nregion) were martyred,\u2019 read a statement from the Iranian military, as\nreported by Iranian state television and cited by AFP on Thursday\n(9\/7\/2026).<\/p>\n
Iranian state media had earlier reported a series of explosions at\nseveral locations along Iran\u2019s southern coast, after US Central Command\n(CENTCOM) announced a new wave of strikes.<\/p>\n
According to a report by the IRNA news agency, the sound of fighter\njets was heard over Kish Island and several explosions rocked the port\ncities of Bandar Abbas, Konarak, and Chabahar, some of which experienced\npower outages.<\/p>\n
The IRNA report also mentioned an attack on a military base in the\ncoastal area of Bushehr, which is home to Iran\u2019s only civilian nuclear\npower plant.<\/p>\n
In northeastern Iran, according to several official Tehran media\nreports, a railway bridge was damaged after being hit by a US\nairstrike.<\/p>\n
In the wake of the mutual attacks between Iran and the US, President\nDonald Trump announced that the ceasefire agreement between the two\ncountries had ended. Trump even called Iran\u2019s leaders \u2018scum\u2019 and\n\u2018insane\u2019.<\/p>\n
