        "content": "<p>Colonel Inf M. Wirya Arthadiguna, Commander of Kapen Koops TNI\nHabema, said the gold miners were killed in the Korowai area, Yahukimo\nRegency on Wednesday (20 May). He said the victims were killed because\nthey were suspected of being security personnel carrying out camouflage\nat the site. \u2018The group accused the victims of being security forces in\ndisguise,\u2019 said Colonel Wirya to reporters cited by detikSulsel,\nThursday (21 May 2026).<\/p>\n<p>Colonel Wirya also rejected the OPM\u2019s suspicion that the victims were\nintelligence officers in disguise. According to him, the eight victims\nwere clearly civilians. \u2018The eight people were not security personnel as\nclaimed by the OPM Kodap XVI Yahukimo group, but civilians engaged in\ngold mining activities in the area,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Wirya explained that authorities are preparing the\nevacuation.
