Eight arrested for stealing<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The police arrested three market security guards
\nand five other men Wednesday for stealing women's clothes worth
\nRp 32 million (US$13,333) from a department store in Tanah Abang
\nmarket, Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Central Jakarta Police Lt. Col. M. Ibrahim said the police
\narrested the security guards, identified only as Ar, Dan and Has,
\nin nearby houses after receiving a report from the shop owner,
\nMustofa, on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
\"We questioned several witnesses and arrested the security
\nguards in their houses. They surrendered without any resistance,\"
\nIbrahim said.<\/p>\n
He said the police also seized clothes in one of the security
\nguards' houses.<\/p>\n
He said the other five suspects; two cleaning service
\nemployees, a drinks seller and two jobless men, were arrested in
\nneighboring areas.<\/p>\n
\"The suspects broke into the Matahari store early in the
\nmorning and stole the clothes,\" Ibrahim said.<\/p>\n
He said the men entered the store by breaking down a door, and
\nwhen Mustofa arrived in the morning he was shocked to find his
\nmerchandise missing.<\/p>\n
Ibrahim said some of the stolen clothes had been sold by the
\nsuspects at city markets at very low prices. \"Some of the clothes
\nwere also sold to two fences.\"<\/p>\n
The police were looking for the fences, he said, without going
\ninto detail.<\/p>\n
Central Jakarta Police are still looking for the burglars who
\nstole cash and goods worth hundreds of millions rupiah from a
\nhouse in Tanah Abang, a photo studio in Menteng and a workshop in
\nGambir over the past six days.<\/p>\n
