The Head of the National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) Polri,
Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, has urged drivers not to rest on
road shoulders. He reminded of the predicted high volume of Eid return
traffic that will begin tomorrow.

“The phenomenon of parking on toll road shoulders and resting on toll
roads must not occur. However, it still happens frequently, especially
before breaking the fast yesterday, and during pre-dawn meals at certain
hours, with some still parking on road shoulders,” said Inspector
General Agus to reporters on Monday (23/3/2026).

Inspector General Agus stated that several traffic policies have been
prepared to handle the Eid return traffic. However, he also called on
drivers to drive orderly so that traffic congestion does not occur.

He urged drivers not to stop to rest on toll road shoulders or force
their way into full rest areas, leading to vehicle build-ups at the
locations.

“We hope that road users will respectfully plan their journeys well,
where they must rest—perhaps exiting the toll road for a short
relaxation or dining on county roads, then re-entering the toll road.
This way, it does not disrupt the journeys of our fellow travellers,
especially when there will be a significant surge,” stated Inspector
General Agus.

National One-Way Return Traffic to Commence on 24 March at 2:00 PM
WIB

Kakorlantas stated that the national one-way return traffic will
start tomorrow at 2:00 PM WIB. The one-directional traffic engineering
system will run from Km 414 of the Kalikangkung Toll to Km 70 of the
Cikampek Utama Toll.

“The priority for high traffic is the national one-way return
traffic, which will be implemented on the 24th tomorrow at 2:00 PM, with
the flag-off directly led by the National Police Chief and several
attending Ministers,” said Inspector General Agus.

Inspector General Agus said the national one-way return traffic
policy could be extended until Thursday (26/3) if the flow of vehicles
towards Jakarta is classified as high. He hopes the public can manage
their return times to avoid vehicle pile-ups.

“Even if the one-way return traffic on the 24th is dense, on the 25th
we will extend it and conduct another one-way. So there will be one-way
on the 24th, 25th, up to the 26th, as long as there is still traffic
generation, we will open it again,” said Kakorlantas.

Inspector General Agus assured that the Polri Traffic Corps is ready
to handle the Eid return traffic with several traffic engineering
systems. However, he also advised mudik participants not to force
themselves to return to Jakarta tomorrow.

“We suggest to our brothers and sisters who are currently mudik not
to depart on the 24th. It can be on the 26th or 27th; there is work from
anywhere, the country provides flexibility to choose journeys so that
dense pile-ups do not occur,” concluded Inspector General Agus.
",
