Edwin elected REI chairman<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The national conference of the Indonesian
\nDevelopers Association (REI) has elected Edwin Kawilarang as the
\norganization's chairman for the period of 1995-1998, replacing
\nEnggartiasto Lukita.<\/p>\n
During the conference, which was held from Monday to Thursday,
\nthe organization's members also elected Agusman Effendi as REI
\nsecretary-general to replace Edwin Kawilarang.<\/p>\n
REI's members also agreed to change the tenure of the
\norganization's leadership from three years to five years,
\neffective from 1998.<\/p>\n
State Minister of Public Housing Akbar Tandjung expressed the
\nhope that Edwin and Agusman will continue promoting the program
\nfor building low-cost houses and strengthening the partnership
\nbetween developers and the government.<\/p>\n
Edwin said that he will support the program to construct low-
\ncost houses and will urge members to comply with the government's
\n1:3:6 housing policy, which requires developers to construct six
\nsmall houses and three medium-sized houses for every luxury house
