A senior official from the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education\n(Kemendikdasmen) has underscored the importance of strengthening\ncomputational thinking and implementing the Academic Aptitude Test (TKA)\nas part of efforts to enhance the quality of education.<\/p>\n
Director General of Non-Formal and Informal Education, Gatot\nSuharwoto, stated that computational thinking ensures children develop\nlogical reasoning skills. \u201cIt is called computational thinking, so the\nchildren\u2019s logic is engaged. Why? So that we do not have a society where\npeople are easily deceived because they are not trained to think\ncritically,\u201d he said in Jambi on Thursday.<\/p>\n
According to Gatot, computational thinking is a foundational logic\nthat students must acquire from an early age. He noted that an instant\nmindset and a reliance on luck without process make some members of\nsociety vulnerable to scams, including schemes that exploit emotions and\ndramatic narratives.<\/p>\n
Gatot explained that some educational institutions have not been\nimplementing adequate final evaluations, resulting in lax graduation\nstandards. \u201cThe TKA is not absolutely mandatory, but it is very\nnecessary when students continue their education to a higher level. At\nthe university level, the TKA has already been incorporated as a\nvalidator of school reports,\u201d he clarified.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Jambi Governor Al Haris expressed appreciation to the\nministry and other parties for supporting a programme to capitalise on\neducational facilities, which now reaches nearly all urban areas. He\nsaid this support has greatly assisted schools in the region with\nphysical construction and equipment procurement.<\/p>\n
