The Jakarta Education Agency, through its West Jakarta Region 1 Sub-Department, will open registrations in June 2026 for 11 free private schools under the 2026/2027 academic year as part of the New Student Admission System. This initiative, prioritising areas without public schools, aims to enhance equitable access to quality education, with selected schools meeting strict criteria including accreditation and full grade offerings. By subsidising private institutions, the programme addresses financial barriers and shortages in public facilities, ensuring no child is denied education due to cost or location.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The DKI Jakarta Education Agency, through the West
Jakarta Region 1 Education Sub-Department, will open registrations for
11 free private schools for the 2026/2027 academic year. Registrations
will open in June 2026 as part of the New Student Admission System/New
Student Registration (SPMB/PPDB) process for the 2026/2027 academic
year. The Head of the West Jakarta Region 1 Education Sub-Department,
Agus Ramdhani, stated that the free private school programme represents
a tangible commitment to providing broader and more equitable access to
education. “With the existence of free private schools, it is hoped that
more students can continue their education with good quality and a
supportive learning environment,” said Agus when contacted on Tuesday.
Agus added that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has selected 11
free private schools within the jurisdiction of the West Jakarta Region
1 Education Sub-Department. “The selection of free private schools is
prioritised in sub-districts that do not have public schools,” said
Agus. The 11 schools are: Sekolah Luar Biasa (SLB) B-C Alfiany, SLB B-C
Kasih Bunda, SLB C Bina Insan Kamil, SMP Garuda, SMP Melania I, SMP
Muhammadiyah 32, SMP Cindera Mata Indah, SMA Lamaholot, SMKS Citra
Utama, SMKS Permata Bunda, and SMKS Benteng Gading Jakarta. “Based on
Governor’s Decree No. 312 of 2026, there are requirements for selecting
free schools, including the school having an establishment permit, being
accredited by the National Education Accreditation Agency, and receiving
school operational assistance from the central government over the past
three years,” he said. Furthermore, Agus explained that the schools must
also conduct complete teaching and learning activities without
interrupted classes. “For example, for primary school level, the school
must have classes 1 through 6. For junior secondary school, classes 7
through 9 must be available, and for senior secondary school/vocational
school, classes 10 through 12,” he said. Through this programme, Agus
continued, it is hoped that no more schoolchildren will face
difficulties accessing education due to financial limitations or the
scarcity of public school facilities in their area. “The free private
school service for the 2026/2027 academic year will open along with
PPDB/SPMB. We are still awaiting the regulations. This week, there will
be socialisation from the education agency. It is estimated for June
2026,” he added.
",
