Ecuador opens embassy in RI<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Ecuador has opened it embassy in Indonesia to further
\nstrengthen existing bilateral relations, the Ecuadorian Embassy
\nin Jakarta announced.<\/p>\n
Ecuador was the second country this year to open an embassy in
\nJakarta, the other was Zimbabwe in April.<\/p>\n
In a simple ceremony last week, Ecuador's Ambassador to
\nIndonesia Alfonso Lopez Araujo inaugurated the new embassy at the
\nWorld Trade Center in downtown Jakarta.<\/p>\n
"It's a step forward to build a better and strong relationship
\nbetween Ecuador and Indonesia," Ambassador Araujo said while
\nopening the embassy.<\/p>\n
Araujo, who submitted his credentials to President Susilo
\nBambang Yudhoyono on Nov. 25, 2004, thanked the Indonesian
\ngovernment, especially the foreign ministry for all the help
\nextended.<\/p>\n
The embassy's first secretary Monica Martinez told The Jakarta
\nPost that the two countries have had diplomatic relations since
\n1980.<\/p>\n
"Our countries established diplomatic relations based on an
\nagreement reached in New York in 1980," Martinez recalled. -- JP<\/p>",
