Ecstasy user caught for holdup<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Police arrested an alleged user of the drug
\nEcstasy after the suspect attempted to rob a student yesterday.<\/p>\n
Police said Endang, 20, a resident of Pasar Kembang, Central
\nJakarta, was caught by Second Lt. Eddy Sunarya after he robbed
\nJulainsah, a grade-two student of Yapernas Junior High School,
\nnear the Megaria cinema in Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Juliansah said he was on the way home in a minibus on the
\nManggarai-Pulo Gadung route at about 12:00 midday when the
\nsuspect suddenly came upon him and told him to give up his cap
\nand watch.<\/p>\n
"I was afraid, so I gave him my watch but I handed my cap to
\nmy friend," Juliansah said.<\/p>\n
After the robbery, the suspect jumped out of the minibus with
\nJuliansah in pursuit. The victim met friends on the street and
\nasked them to chase the suspect.<\/p>\n
Police said that at that moment Lt. Eddy Sunarya saw the what
\nwas happening and apprehended both the suspect and the victim.<\/p>\n
When questioned, the suspect tried to hide his wallet,
\narousing suspicion, police said.<\/p>\n
Police confiscated the wallet, finding that it contained a
\npaper cutter, which had been used to threaten the victim, and 18
\npills of "Nipam 10", which is said to be a type of Ecstasy.<\/p>\n
According to the police, the victim was still under the
\ninfluence of the drug during questioning, rendering him unable to
\nprovide affirmative information.<\/p>\n
Police said this is the first case they have encountered of an
\nEcstasy user committing a crime. To date, police are aware of
\nonly two deaths as a result of Ecstasy overdose. (05)<\/p>",
